Priest mentions the ‘alpha wolf’ of the Barbarians, Ge Tu, as 王爷 (Wang Ye) in the novel and mentions Jialai Yinghuo as 世子 (Shi Zi). If the Barbarians were scorned at, why did they possess noble titles? The jade Xiuniang gave to Changgeng has a significance that is frequently overlooked.
